Jhanak 11th September 2024 Written Episode
The episode begins with Dadi questioning, “Is this true? Did you really try to send Lalon to jail to ruin Appu’s marriage?” Shubh, looking defensive, denies it, saying, “No, it’s a lie.” But Anjana speaks up, confirming the truth. “Yes, it’s true,” she says, “The commissioner came and saved Appu’s life.” She confronts Shubh, “Why did you do this? Do you not see us as equals? What did we do wrong in choosing Lalon for Appu? We have no status here, we only stay because of Mom and Dad.” Anirudh intervenes, trying to calm things down. “Jhanak, don’t take offense at what my parents said,” he says. Then, turning to Shrishti, he adds, “You’ll be blamed one day too if you keep accusing others. What happened to Shubh can happen to anyone, so learn from his mistake. Lalon has forgiven him, otherwise, he’d be in jail. That’s the truth.” Mimi, upset, asks, “Aren’t you ashamed to say that?” Anirudh stands firm, replying, “There’s no shame in telling the truth.” Shubh tries to protest, “It’s not true,” but Anirudh cuts him off, “Why shouldn’t I believe it? You’ve hurt me deeply. If my family hadn’t supported me, I don’t know what I would have done in this shame. Try to change, Shubh. Become a better person, please.” Bablu also scolds Shubh.
Appu, upset, says, “I don’t want to stay here anymore, or the police will catch Lalon again.” Lalon gently suggests, “If you agree, then Mum will take us home.” Appu nods, “Yes.” Anuradha suggests to Anjana, “We should complete the *rasams* today itself.” Anjana agrees. Appu, eager to leave, says, “Yes, the sooner I go to my *sasural*, the better. Shubh and Tanuja are like thorns in my path, always hurting me.” Tanuja snaps back, telling her to be quiet. Lal interrupts, saying, “We won’t attend the rasam.” Bipasha adds, “No one can stay here without Shubh’s help.” Choton counters, “You’re wrong. Everyone earns and manages their own expenses. Just because Shubh did wrong doesn’t make it right.” He adds, “What can I tell Lalon and his friends? They know everything now. Shubh was wrong, and thankfully, the commissioner remembered the favors Lalon’s father did for him and saved Lalon. Even poor people have integrity.” He then asks Anjana to prepare for Appu’s *Bidaai* (farewell). Appu, eager to leave, says, “Yes, I want to go.” Anjana, concerned, asks, “Will Appu never return here?” Lalon replies, “She can come back, but I won’t. You can visit her anytime, or I’ll drop her off, but I won’t enter this house again.” Anirudh adds, “I’ll stay here.” This sparks an argument with Arshi, who retorts, “I know why you want to stay here—it’s because of Jhanak.” Frustrated, Anirudh shouts, “Arshi!” Jhanak, trying to mediate, asks, “Why this insecurity? You’re already this house’s *bahu*. Your marriage might have been incomplete, but everyone considers you Anirudh’s wife.” Arshi angrily tells her to be quiet, but Jhanak stands her ground, saying, “You can’t silence me. I’m not dependent on you for anything, so think carefully before you speak to me. The police serve both the rich and the poor.”
As night falls, Anjana, feeling emotional, says, “I can’t see Appu well. I won’t be able to stay there after the *rasam*. It’s a big family, but no one is left to bless her as she starts this new chapter.” Dadi gives Appu her blessings. Anuradha announces, “We’ll try to have a *Bou Bhat* at a nearby school. Please come. Lalon will work hard to give Appu a good life.” Dadi reassures Appu, “You can come home anytime you want.” Appu, feeling emotional, asks, “Why? Won’t you come to my *sasural* because they’re poor?” Dadi tries to explain, “No, I’m getting old. How can I come alone?” But Appu isn’t convinced. “That’s not the truth,” she says. “You won’t come because Shubh will be angry if you do. I always speak the truth—Dad taught me that.” Anirudh chimes in, “Choton and I will come to visit you. He’s gone to buy you a surprise gift.” Appu, her mood lifting slightly, says, “Tell him to bring Meenu along.” She turns to Jhanak and adds, “You’ll go to Mumbai and won’t come to visit me.” Jhanak reassures her, “Don’t say that. I’ll meet you when you come.” But Appu isn’t convinced. “I know you won’t come back here,” she says.
Jhanak suggests, “You can come to Mumbai.” Anirudh, teasing her, says, “You’ll have to stay in Aditya’s house.” Lalon, feeling disrespected, says, “We’ll leave if this is how we’re treated.” Jhanak, catching his drift, thanks him for his patience. Anjana asks, “Why didn’t Meenu come?” Bablu speculates, “Choton might have upset her.” Appu agrees, “Yes, he always does that.”
Dadi, feeling guilty, apologizes to Lalon for insulting him earlier. “I’ve come to realize you’re a gem,” she says. “Prove it to those who doubted you.” Lalon humbly responds, “It’s not my job to prove myself to others. I’ll prove my worth to my wife.” Appu, ever the innocent, says, “I know ‘wife’ means ‘bride.'” She laughs, and Anjana explains, “Appu is innocent. She doesn’t always know what to say or when.” Anuradha adds, “It’s good. People like Appu are rare gems, and we’ll do our best to keep her happy.” Appu asks, “Where is Dadu?” Dadi replies, “He’s sleeping. He’s not feeling well.” Bablu, emotional, begins to cry. Appu, noticing, tells him, “Don’t cry, Bablu. I’ll come home to visit you.” She too begins to cry. Bablu, wiping his tears, tells her to take care and stay happy. He turns to Lalon and thanks him for being there for Appu. Appu, lightening the mood, says, “I’ll make sure Choton and Meenu get married.” Everyone smiles at her innocence. Lalon, joining in, says, “I’ll make sure to invite Choton for the *Bou Bhat*.” Anuradha insists, “He has to come.” Jhanak, puzzled, asks, “Why didn’t Meenu come?” Bablu, concerned, says, “I’ll call her.”
As the moment of farewell approaches, Appu, now emotional, says, “I don’t want to leave. How will I live without you all?” Lalon, comforting her, says, “You have two homes now. You can come here anytime you want.” Dadi brings the rice plate for the *rasam* and asks Appu to repeat the traditional words. But before she can, Jhanak stops her.
