Mangal Lakshmi 26th August 2024 Written Update
Scene 1
Lakshmi calls Kusum. She talks to Mangal and asks where her phone is. Mangal replies that she can’t find it anywhere. Just then, Mayank enters, and everyone compliments him, saying he looks very good. Adit announces that he will go directly to the venue because he has some work to attend to and then leaves. Mangal grabs Adit’s hand and asks him what’s wrong. She reminds him that he still needs to tie Mayank’s turban. Adit responds that he doesn’t have time and that he can’t abandon his job for this. He complains that there’s always some kind of drama going on. Kusum interjects, reminding him that Mayank is his friend. Adit reluctantly agrees, saying, “Okay, I’ll tie the turban, but I’ll leave right after that.” Mayank, excited, tells Adit, “I can’t wait to marry Saumiya.” Mangal performs Mayank’s arti, and he expresses how lucky he feels to be marrying Saumiya, thanking everyone. Adit proceeds to tie his turban.
The doorbell rings, and Mangal opens the door to find Saumiya standing there, dressed as a bride. Shocked, Mangal asks, “You?” Everyone is stunned to see her, and Adit becomes visibly anxious. Saumiya steps inside, hugs Adit, and begins to cry, pleading with him, “Please stop this wedding, Adit. I don’t want to marry Mayank. Please.” Kusum, confused and concerned, asks, “Are you in your senses?” Saumiya desperately continues, “Please do something. Stop this wedding.” Suddenly, Shanti, outraged, slaps her, saying, “Do you have no shame? How dare you hug Adit like that?” Saumiya’s cheek bleeds, and she faints. Mangal screams in panic and tries to wake her up, but Saumiya remains unresponsive.
Everyone rushes Saumiya to the hospital, where they discover that she has slit her wrist. The news shocks everyone. Mangal, replaying the events in her mind, questions Adit, “Why did Saumiya hug you and cry? This is all so strange. Why did she say she didn’t want to marry Mayank?” Meanwhile, Mayank sits there in stunned silence as Adit leaves to fill out the necessary forms.
Shanti confronts Kusum, asking, “How did you let all of this happen? What’s going on between Adit and Saumiya? She came in and hugged your son right in front of you. How did she even have the nerve to do that?” Kusum, equally shocked, replies, “I’m as surprised as you are.” Mayank, still processing everything, asks Mangal, “Why did she do this? If she didn’t like me, she could have just said no. We didn’t force her.” Mangal recalls how Saumiya used to talk about her fiancé and admits, “I knew she liked someone, but I didn’t know who it was. I thought that chapter was over when she agreed to marry you. This is my fault.” Mayank, trying to console her, says, “It’s not your fault. I just hope she gets better.” Mangal sighs, “Couples are made in heaven.” Mayank, still confused, adds, “But I’m struggling to understand why she hugged Adit. It didn’t seem right. Did you know about all of this? I was so shocked. Life taught me a big lesson today.”
Outside, a band arrives at the house, but Kusum tells them to leave. Shanti, however, tells Kusum not to take out her frustration on them and adds, “You should have controlled your son. If Saumiya didn’t want to marry, she could have just said no. Why did she have to hug Adit?” Sudesh intervenes, telling Shanti to be quiet. Kusum, still processing everything, says, “I’ll answer your questions when I get some answers myself.”
Later, Mangal again questions Adit, “Why did Saumiya try to kill herself?” Adit, frustrated, replies, “I don’t know.” Mangal presses on, “Then why did she come to you and hug you?” Adit, exasperated, responds, “How should I know?” Lipika, entering the conversation, sarcastically remarks, “Really? You don’t know? She’s more than just a colleague, isn’t she? I mean, you’re friends, right? Don’t you spend time with her outside of work?” Adit, growing defensive, tells her, “Tell your sister to control herself.” Mangal tries to calm the situation by asking Lipika to stay quiet, but she persists, “Why did Saumiya do this? Adit, you’re responsible for all of this, not Mangal. Why did you have to push for her wedding? You only did it to assert your importance.” Lipika continues, “But this is about Saumiya hugging you. You are the one responsible for all of this, not her. What will happen if Saumiya dies?”
Meanwhile, Ishana calls Lakshmi and tells her everything, mentioning that the wedding has been called off because Saumiya was injured. Concerned, Gayatri asks, “What happened?” Lakshmi replies, “Let me check with Mangal.” Mangal then informs her that Saumiya tried to commit suicide and that she doesn’t want to marry Mayank. Lakshmi, puzzled, says, “But no one forced her.” Mangal clarifies, “She’s in love with someone else.” Lakshmi asks, “Who?” At that moment, the police arrive and ask Mangal for her statement. Mangal stops Adit, telling him, “This is now a police case. You need to tell the truth about everything you know.”
