Anupama

Anupama 19th September 2024 Written Update

The episode begins with Anupama asking Baa to let the night pass and leave everything to the morning, as a new day will bring new possibilities. Meanwhile, Meenu tells Sagar that she is very scared about the situation. Bala overhears them and asks if they aren’t worried about the consequences. He advises them not to meet secretly, reminding them that they don’t have the freedom to meet openly. Meenu clarifies that they were discussing not meeting until they inform Mami about everything. Bala, realizing he misunderstood, apologizes. Meenu reassures him, saying they know he’s their well-wisher and that he doesn’t want them to get into trouble. Bala admits he isn’t against their love but wants them to be cautious. They assure him that they will be careful.

Baa approaches Babu ji, who is wiping clean the utensils after washing them. Babu ji tells her that Anupama assigned him the task to keep him busy and not feel useless. He mentions that Bala washes the dishes while he cleans the gas stove. Baa reflects on her past and admits that she spent her life cursing Anupama because she wasn’t her choice. She recalls that whenever the family was in trouble, Anupama was the one who stepped up to support them. She confesses that Vanraj made many mistakes, but Anupama, though a daughter-in-law, took on the responsibilities of a son. Baa feels guilty about how she treated Anupama—insulting her, taunting her, and cursing her openly. Now, because of Anupama’s maturity, they have a roof over their heads; otherwise, the neighbors would have recorded their downfall and made it viral. She tearfully admits that Anupama has provided them shelter and support. Babu ji comforts her, telling her to take care of herself and not burden Anupama further, as she already has too much on her plate. Bala Kaka and Indra watch them and are happy to see that Baa and Babu ji are united.

In the hall, the Ashram ladies lay out cotton mattresses. Toshu, Pakhi, Dimpy, and Dolly complain, demanding at least foam mattresses. Dolly remarks that she hopes there are no bed bugs. Pakhi, now worried, asks why Dolly said that and wonders how she’ll sleep. Dimpy, frustrated, says she and Titu are a couple and should have been given a room, but Mummy expects them to sleep on these mattresses. Bala brings mosquito repellent, but Toshu complains about the smell. Bala advises him to put a wet cloth over his nose if it bothers him.

Later, Pakhi sneaks into the kitchen, thinking about how she refused food earlier. Nandita offers to cook something, but Dimpy sarcastically accuses the others of being experts at fooling people. Pakhi, impatient, asks Nandita to make something quickly but with less oil and spice. Nandita agrees to prepare it, but just as she starts, Anuj intervenes. He tells Nandita to step aside and instructs Pakhi and Dimpy to make their own food. He points out that there’s no microwave, heater, OTG, or induction, only a gas stove. He advises them to make whatever they want and reminds them to clean up afterward, turning off the gas knob properly. He sends Nandita to fetch Asha, and as she leaves, Anuj firmly states that while Anu may not be around, he is here to ensure things run smoothly.

Anupama and Anuj later observe the Shah family struggling to sleep. Anupama, upset, blames Vanraj for the situation. She expresses her sorrow for Baa, Babu ji, Kinjal, and the kids. She reflects on how proud Baa and Babu ji once were of their son, but now he has abandoned them, their grandson is of no use, and their daughter has returned only to claim her share of the property. She prays that no one else has to experience such pain. She laments that if she had been capable enough, she wouldn’t have let them suffer like this. Lost in her thoughts, Anuj gently questions why she’s crying and points out that while she has many strengths, she often shoulders the burden alone. He reminds her that it’s their shared responsibility. He asks if Aadhya is only her responsibility, or if Asha Bhavan and the children are just hers. Anupama takes this to heart and decides to act.

Toshu, in search of cold water, heads to the kitchen. Sagar hands him ice cubes, but Toshu demands more. Sagar, unimpressed, tells him to get it himself. Toshu accuses Sagar of showing attitude because of their bad situation, but Sagar denies this. They argue until Meenu steps in, asking Toshu to stop. Toshu, in retaliation, threatens to tell Anupama about Sagar and Meenu’s relationship and storms off. Meenu, anxious, kisses Sagar on the cheek and leaves.

As the night wears on, baby Asha starts crying, and Bala’s loud snores disturb everyone’s sleep. Pakhi and the others wake up, annoyed. Pakhi asks Nandita to quiet the baby, while she calls Toshu, wondering how he’s managing to sleep through the noise. The group begins complaining again, demanding separate rooms. Anupama, fed up, comes over, grabs them by their heads, and shoves them outside. Everyone, including Baa, watches in shock. Anupama firmly tells them that she warned against any drama, but they still don’t listen. She orders them to stay wherever they want now. Toshu declares that they won’t stay in this “garbage box.” Anupama sternly warns them to go out and ask someone who’s homeless about the value of a roof over one’s head. She reminds them that even a hut offers safety from life’s problems. She tells them to go find somewhere else to stay. Pakhi, upset, claims they have plenty of options and that their friends will come pick them up in their cars. Toshu questions why they would stay with “poor people” when they have connections with the rich. Anupama dares them to call their friends and tell them their mother threw them out because even she doesn’t want to live with useless people like them. Toshu angrily declares that they don’t want to stay with “garbage people.”

Anupama slams the door shut, announcing that anyone who has a problem should leave so their sleep isn’t disturbed again. She apologizes to the Asha Bhavan residents, explaining that the drama was caused by her children. She admits that she keeps trying to let go of her role as a mother, but keeps giving her children more chances. Bala tries to reason that the weather is bad and they aren’t used to staying in such conditions. Anupama counters that it’s all about their attitude. Babu ji agrees with her decision, and Baa adds that Vanraj is to blame for spoiling them. Suddenly, there’s a knock at the door. Anuj opens it to find Titu, who says Dimpy called him. They invite him in to sleep.

Outside, Toshu and Pakhi vent their frustrations, convinced that their mother expects them to beg her to take them back. Pakhi, frightened by the sound of thunder, tries calling their friends, but no one is willing to help them. Worried, they realize they are on their own and grow increasingly anxious as the storm rages on. Inside, Anupama is restless, recalling Pakhi’s hurtful words.
