Yeh Hai Chahatein 18th September 2024 Written Episode Update
The episode begins with the police arriving to arrest Pradyuman. Arjun, determined, tells Pradyuman that the law will take its course and punish him. Pradyuman, in a fit of rage, warns them that he still has the power to harm them. He reveals a pendrive, claiming it contains evidence. When shown, the footage on the pendrive reveals Karun pulling the lever that led to Mohan’s death. Kashvi tries to explain that it was an accident, and Karun didn’t mean any harm. Despite her protests, the inspector asserts that a death occurred, and they must take Karun into custody. Meera steps in, stating that Mohan was her fiancé, and she hadn’t filed any complaint. However, the inspector insists that a death is enough reason to proceed with the arrest. Karun is taken away, leaving Arjun and Kashvi devastated.
At the police station, the inspector tells Kashvi that, as a civil service officer, she should understand that the law works based on facts, not emotions, and the footage clearly shows Karun pulling the lever. Kashvi pleads that Karun is just a scared child and begs the inspector not to send him to jail. The inspector mentions that officials from the juvenile home are arriving to decide what to do. A distressed Karun begs Kashvi not to let them take him, crying that she’s always saved him before and to save him now. Kashvi hugs him tightly, while Meera assures Karun that his parents won’t let anything bad happen to him.
As they take Karun away, Kashvi collapses in tears, and Arjun promises her that they won’t let Karun go to jail. He vows to speak with the juvenile home officials and find a solution. The officials review the footage, and Arjun explains that Karun was only trying to help, unaware of the consequences. However, the officials insist they must question Karun and leave the verdict to the judge. One of the officials promises the case will be fast-tracked, with a decision in two days. A terrified Karun clings to Kashvi, who tries to reassure him that they will protect him. Arjun reassures Kashvi that they’ll hire the best lawyer to ensure Karun is freed.
Two days later, Arjun updates the lawyer with all the case details. Kashvi is anxious, telling the lawyer that nothing should happen to her son. The lawyer assures them that he will do his best. Karun arrives and embraces Kashvi, who tells him to stay strong and not to cry, promising that they’ll take him home soon. Arjun too reassures Karun, saying that today they’ll bring him back home. However, their lawyer warns that the final decision lies with the judge. Kashvi anxiously questions the lawyer’s uncertainty, but they proceed into the courtroom.
The court case begins with the prosecution arguing that Karun intentionally pulled the lever, causing Mohan’s death. Arjun’s lawyer counters that it was an accident, that Karun is just a child who didn’t understand what he was doing. The prosecution brings up Karun’s school records, claiming he’s a mischievous child who was recently expelled. The school principal testifies that while Karun has been troublesome, he has shown improvement recently. Another teacher recounts an incident where Karun set off fireworks in the classroom. The judge, after hearing all the testimony, concludes that it is necessary to place Karun in juvenile detention. Kashvi and Arjun are left shocked.
As all hope seems lost, Arjun’s lawyer steps forward with another witness. Meera takes the stand, swearing to tell the truth. She reveals that Karun was not responsible for Mohan’s death. She explains that she had diverted the current during the wedding because the generator wasn’t working, and the real cause of Mohan’s death was a short circuit, not Karun pulling the lever. She clarifies that Karun had only pulled the lever to bring the lights back on, unaware of the danger. Karun tearfully explains that he didn’t want Mohan to die, that he just wanted to fix the darkness. Meera concludes that she never intended to file a case against Karun.
The judge, convinced by Meera’s testimony, dismisses the case, and Karun is declared innocent. Overjoyed, Karun runs into the arms of Arjun and Kashvi. Meera lovingly kisses Karun on the cheek. Kashvi thanks Meera for saving Karun, and Arjun wonders how they can ever repay her. Meera, smiling, responds that there’s no need for thanks—Karun is her son too. She then shocks everyone by presenting Arjun with divorce papers, telling him that she’s signed them and wants him to do the same. Arjun, taken aback, tries to protest, but Meera is firm. She explains that she will manage alone in Delhi and wants to prove to her father that she doesn’t need anyone. She urges Kashvi and Arjun to stay together, saying they were meant for each other and that their “chahatein” (desires) should be fulfilled. Kashvi tearfully hugs Meera as they say their goodbyes.
Six months later in New Delhi, Meera is seen holding her baby, celebrating his second month. She looks at Mohan’s photo, telling him that their son will grow up to be a good person, just like him. Vikram arrives with news from Arjun, sharing that Kashvi has gone into labor and their baby could arrive any time.
In the delivery room, Arjun stays by Kashvi’s side, encouraging her to push. After a while, the doctor announces that they’ve had a healthy baby girl. Arjun, overjoyed, holds his newborn daughter and shows her to Kashvi. Later, Karun excitedly enters the room, asking where his little sister is. Kashvi, smiling, hugs him and says she’s coming soon. Arjun proudly introduces their baby girl as Chahat, explaining that she’s the epitome of their love, a symbol of their triumph over hardship. Kashvi agrees, saying that Chahat represents everything they’ve fought for, their everlasting “chahatein” (desires). Arjun kisses Kashvi on the forehead, and they all pose together as a happy family with Karun and Chahat.
