Jagriti

Jagriti 18th September 2024 Written Episode Update

The episode starts with Durjan praising Jagriti for bringing in her first hunt. Golu arrives and reveals that Jagriti didn’t hunt the rabbit, but instead, took his arrow to protect the rabbit. Durjan approaches Jagriti and questions her about why she caught the rabbit alive instead of hunting it. Lifting her up, he demands an explanation. Jagriti asks if hunting is truly necessary. Durjan reminds her that hunting is their profession, and without wielding weapons, how can they be called Chitta? Jagriti explains that weapons should be used to protect, just as Ram ji did, and declares that she will only raise a weapon to save someone, not to kill. Durjan becomes both angry and amused, laughing at her response. He praises her intelligence, mocking Golu for his foolishness, and adds that Jagriti is far ahead of him.

Golu counters that Jagriti couldn’t kill the rabbit because she feels its pain and can’t bear to see blood. Durjan’s wife supports Golu, saying that Jagriti indeed couldn’t bring herself to kill the rabbit. Durjan scolds his wife for failing to make Jagriti brave. Mangla, witnessing this, sends Bindi to fetch Harish, saying only he can save Jagriti now. Meanwhile, Durjan’s wife urges Jagriti to finish the rabbit, while Bindi rushes to Harish, who hurriedly washes his face and runs to save his daughter.

Ballu’s wife pressures him to act, asking if he will stand by while their son is insulted. Ballu urges Jagriti to kill the rabbit, but Durjan warns him not to interfere. Mangla, furious, commands Jagriti to kill the rabbit, even giving her a father’s oath to force her hand. Jagriti reluctantly places the rabbit on the ground, clearly feeling heartbroken. Durjan’s wife then shoots arrows to trap the rabbit in a cage and orders Jagriti to take the shot and kill it.

Harish arrives and begs Durjan’s wife not to harm Jagriti, but Jagriti reassures him, stating that she has done nothing wrong, so no one will punish her. Harish ties a cloth around her injured hand, but Durjan calls him over and gestures for Ballu to offer him wine. Durjan hands the wine to Harish, calling it his prize. Harish drinks and collapses, much to Mangla’s growing anger.

Durjan’s wife instructs Jagriti to pick up the arrow and aim at the rabbit. Durjan, disappointed, remarks that he once admired Jagriti’s silent defiance, self-respect, and fearlessness, but now she has given up so easily. Jagriti, however, circles the trapped rabbit, shooting arrows to free it and allows the rabbit to escape. Golu immediately demands that Jagriti be punished, but Durjan steps in, stating that the head of the community has the authority to decide. He acknowledges Jagriti’s potential to be the head and says more qualities need to be tested. Golu is stunned and asks, “Head of the community?” Durjan then challenges Golu to capture the rabbit and bring it back.

Durjan’s wife scolds Bindi for not instilling the right values in Jagriti. Bindi defends herself, reminding everyone that Jagriti is the daughter of Harish and Gita, and while Harish was brave, Gita was compassionate. She adds that Jagriti has never eaten meat or fish, making her different. Jagriti prays to God to save the rabbit, and Ballu’s wife questions her behavior. Bindi continues, stating that Jagriti takes after her mother, Gita.

Durjan harshly reprimands his wife, Nanda, and Bindi, accusing them of failing to teach Jagriti the Chitta values. Nanda apologizes, acknowledging that she has failed. Durjan, however, declares that as the head of the community, not just her husband, he has decided that Jagriti will be his heir and take over his kingdom after him. This shocks everyone, including Ballu, Nanda, and the others.
